First United Methodist Church has had a recycling program for 15+ years.  United Methodists are strong advocates of environmental stewardship, and this is one way we can help the whole community participate in the recycling process.

Any proceeds we receive from the recycling program go to the Youth Service Fund, which is money raised by youth for youth in the Nebraska Conference.  These funds help finance youth mission trips and other worthwhile projects selected by the Conference Youth Leadership Team.

Recycling trailers are located in the west parking lot of the church as well additional bins for cardboard.  We ask that you follow these guidelines:

Only bring items that are indicated on the recycling trailer.  They include:

  • #1 and #2 plastics only, minus all lids.  Flatten larger jugs if possible.  Do not put plastic bags in with the items.
  • Newspapers, anything that comes in the newspaper can be recycled with the newspaper.
  • Aluminum cans.
  • Tin cans.
  • All cardboard.  Please flattened out as much as possible.  Please remove any packing materials prior to drop-off.  Brown paper grocery sacks may be included with your cardboard.
The following items cannot be recycled at this time:
  • magazines
  • glass
DO NOT leave materials if the trailer is full as this may contribute to litter in the surrounding neighborhood.

If the trailer is not in the lot, it is being emptied and is only gone temporarily.  We ask that you bring your recycleables another day.
